Our goal is to create a community garden and hub that brings people together, fostering connection, shared learning, and wellbeing. The garden will be a welcoming space where people can share skills, learn where food comes from, and gain the confidence to grow nutritious food themselves - supporting both mental and physical health while helping to combat chronic disease.

Produce grown in the garden will be donated to local food banks, helping to address food poverty in our area. By sharing practical growing skills, we aim to strengthen community resilience and improve local food security. The project will also reconnect children with their natural environment, nurturing a sense of belonging and rekindling the spirit of community.

We will follow permaculture principles, working in harmony with nature’s cycles to maximise efficiency and productivity. This approach will increase biodiversity and contribute to climate change mitigation as a positive by-product.

Nourishing Communities will also work with local groups and schools to plant trees and flowers across the area, enhancing green spaces and supporting wildlife.

Alongside the garden, we will run workshops in skills such as beekeeping, woodworking, and willow weaving, while encouraging individuals to share their own knowledge and talents. By observing and learning from nature - particularly the cooperative structure of a bee colony - we believe communities can work together towards a shared goal for the greater good.
